FT NavVision Client
Clients are virtually no different than servers in an FT NavVision system, and for a reason. It’s all about redundancy. It may never happen, but we believe that in the unlucky event a server fails, the entire system should remain largely unaffected. This means that clients should be able to take over the server’s role when necessary. This is why FT NavVision systems use clients that are prepared for exactly such an event.
During normal operation, clients remain clients and simply accepts everything the server broadcasts. Changes made on the server are automatically reflected on the clients. Should that same server break down or otherwise bu unavailable (broken LAN-cable, power outage etc.), the client will take over communication with all I/O’s and start broadcasting their data over the network. When the server announces itself on the network again, the client will revert back to its original state and transfers all rights back to the main server.
A client’s internal hardware, though less powerful than a server’s, is more than capable to handle all incoming and outgoing data. Free Technics has several clients on offer, all with their own specific traits. Which one is used depends on your system, and is decided in close co-operation between the client, our sales and our technical department. Whichever will be used, you are sure it is a robust, industrial and, most importantly, reliable system.
Alternate FT NavVision Client
The strong points of our client systems are a clean design, a completely fan-less whole and a compact chassis. The cooling consists of a integrated “heatsink” and results in the fact that there’s a complete absence of fans. No fans means no noise and no salty air being sucked into its internals. Also its compact size and, just as important, its low power consumption make the FT NavVision clients ideal machines for use on board vessels.
